To stay safe on the road, it’s important to know how aging can affect your driving and adopt strategies to improve your confidence. How does age affect your driving?
A driver’s age has nothing to do with their ability to drive as long as they’re in good health. In other words, a 75-year-old could be a better driver than a 30-year-old.
However, seniors tend to have more health problems and take more medications, some of which can cause dizziness, drowsiness and poor concentration. In addition, older drivers may have slow reflexes, hearing loss, impaired vision and reduced motor skills. – Do you find it more difficult to perform certain manoeuvres such as backing up?
– Do other drivers tend to honk at you?
– Do you ever brake at the last minute at an intersection?
– Do you need a passenger to help you avoid making mistakes or getting lost?

What can you do to drive safely?
If you want to drive confidently and have less stress, use these tips:
– Avoid driving during rush hour
– Take well-known routes
– Don’t drive at night or during the day if the sun’s blindingly bright
– Make sure you’re not tired and that you haven’t consumed alcohol or medications that can cause drowsiness
– Check the weather and don’t drive if there’s heavy rain, high winds, ice or blowing snow
